Andover - Shirlie I. MacLeish, 92, of Andover, Mass., passed away peacefully Monday, February 4, 2019, at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill. She was born in Lawrence, Mass., February 5, 1926, to the late Frederick C. and Marion E. (Cate) Hardy.

Born and raised in Andover, Mass., she graduated from Punchard High School in 1944 along with her future Husband Russell C. MacLeish. She proudly raised her family in her hometown of Andover. She enjoyed family vacations to Newfound Lake in N.H. and out to the Mohawk Trail. Shirlie was involved with volunteering for the Red Cross blood mobile in the 1970s. She worked for the Andover Public Schools lunch program at Andover High, West Elementary and Bancroft schools. Later in life she enjoyed cooking, playing cards with friends, and spending time with family.

She is survived by her grandson Chad Murphy and his wife Stephanie; great-grandchildren Mark and Alexandra Murphy of Framingham, Mass.; grandson Wess Murphy and his wife Kim of Haverhill, Mass.; and sister-in-law Faye Hardy of Greer, S.C. She is predeceased by her husband Russell C. MacLeish; daughter Lynda J. Murphy; son Russell N. MacLeish; sister Hazel M. Mosher; and brother Douglas Hardy.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday, February 11, 2019, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence Street, Andover, Mass. A funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover. For online condolences, please visit
