Theresa M. Beatrice

Events

Groveland - Theresa Mary (Marquis) Beatrice, age 70, passed away at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Mass., on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Salem, Massachusetts, Theresa was a devoted daughter of the late Rene and Frances (Colby) Marquis. She was the proud oldest sister to her late brother Brian Marquis. She grew up in Salem, Mass., where she was a graduate of St. James Catholic High School. She later moved to Groveland, Mass., where she raised five children and found lifetime-friends on Lanen Avenue.

Theresa is survived by two daughters, Gina M. (Beatrice) LeBlanc and her husband Stephen of Bradford, Mass., Christine Rose (Beatrice) Silvestre of Bradford, Mass.; and three sons, Stevie and his wife Lauren of Franklin, Mass., Michael Beatrice of Lowell, Mass., and Anthony Beatrice of Somerville, Mass. She was the proud grandmother of Taylor LeBlanc, Makayla Beatrice and Christina Beatrice. She was the sister of Patricia (Marquis) Tremblay of Wenham, Mass., Michael Marquis and his wife JoAnn of Lynn, Mass., James Marquis of Swampscott, Mass., Janet (Marquis) Bishop and her husband Robert of Salem, Mass., Kim Marquis of Salem, Mass.; and was the sister-in-law of the late Stephanie Duato of Lowell, Mass. She was a passionate aunt to many nieces and nephews. Father of her five children is Stephen Beatrice of Peru, Maine.

Theresa was a loving and giving soul who had an infectious positive energy. She spent many years devoting her time to the family business, Marquis Cleaners of Salem, Mass. She developed a new and dear community of friends while working at Nicole's Foods in Groveland. Her Lanen Avenue neighbors were part of the fabric of her joy. She loved spending summer vacations on Salisbury Beach, visiting the iconic Salem Willows, and eating at her favorite restaurant, Bertini's. She enjoyed mystery rides with her sisters, surprise visits from her brothers filled with her favorite foods and movies, cousin get-togethers, Beatrice family cookouts featuring Ernie's cooking, making Martha Stewart-inspired arts and crafts, and attending her children's sporting events and music concerts. A devoted Red Sox fan, she watched each game; no phone calls allowed. She was a proud bargain hunter, perusing through Building 19 with a cup of Dunkin' coffee in hand. She became a second mother to her daughters' friends with whom she loved to chat and was always open to giving advice. Each holiday featured a slew of decorations but nothing compared to Christmas. The moment Thanksgiving ended, the Christmas decorations went right up and stayed well past New Year's. Christmas mornings with her children and grandchildren were some of her happiest moments. Above all, becoming "Nanny" was her greatest gift and legacy.

A special thank you to all her home health aids, with a special thanks to her friend and long-time aid Gina Annis Critchette, Thelma, Kelly, her Flower Child Melissa, and her attentive and caring visiting nurses. We give sincere appreciation to Dr. Ray, Dr. Srinivasan, Erin, Dr. Yavarow, and her assistant Laura. She adored every one of you. Many thanks to everyone at Mission Towers. Thank you to H.L.
