North Andover, MA - Therese (Crochetiere) Hillner passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 2, at Lincoln Hospice House after a brief illness. Born in Sherbrooke, Canada, in 1925, to Arthur and Eva Crochetiere, she came to the United States when she was 18 months old. Therese graduated from Methuen High School in 1944 and then Saint John’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She married the love of her life, Robert Hillner, in 1950, and remained a devoted wife for almost 60 years until his death in 2010.
Terry worked as a nurse at Saint John’s Hospital and for Dr. Frank Hayden until she retired. Family was the focus of her life, and although she and Bob never had any children of their own, they became like parents to their many nieces and nephews. Terry reveled in their achievements and supported them whenever they needed it. Wonderful memories were made at the beach, trips to Canada and California, Canobie Lake, Markey’s Lobster Pool, bowling, bingo, showers, weddings, Christmases, Thanksgivings, graduations and family gatherings.
In addition to her role of nurturer to her nieces and nephews, Terry took care of her own mother as well as her mother-in-law. Her role in life was to care for others—and she did so beautifully.
For the past few years of her life, Terry has lived at Ashland Farms where she participated in all of the activities, knew everyone’s name and showed genuine concern for everyone there. Again, she spent her last years caring for others while others cared for her.
Predeceased by her husband and parents, Terry also survived her sister Hugoette McGreevey; brothers, Rene Crochetiere, Robert Crochetiere, and Norman Crochetiere; sisters-in- law Dorothy Connor, Irene Hillner, Barbara Crochetiere, and Rose Crochetiere; and brothers-in-law, William Hillner, Richard Hillner, and Chick McGreevey. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Marie Crochetiere and Judith Hillner; as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Ashland Farms for their devotion and care as well as to Father Kevin Deeley and the staff at Saint Michael Church for their kindness and support.

Calling hours will be held at Conte Funeral Home, Third Street, North Andover, MA, on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, from 10 to 11 a.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Michael Church, North Andover. Interment will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery. Donations in Terry’s name may be made to Saint Michael Parish, North Andover.
