William (Bill)'s Story
William L (Bill) Avard, 75, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018, after a sudden accident at his family vacation home in Sebago, Maine. Bill was a native of Wayland, Mass., the son of the late Lewis and Ruth (Hinman) Avard, and the brother of James Avard of Manchester, N.H. Bill graduated from Wayland High School and later retired from Brockway-Smith Company in Andover, Mass., after nearly 40 years of service. Bill spent his childhood camping and playing outdoors around Sebago Lake, Maine. He really enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, completing word search puzzles, and traveling the world with his family and friends. One of his most favorite evening past times was watching Vanna White turn the letters on Wheel of Fortune and then answering mostly all the question on Jeopardy wrong. He especially loved hanging out with his best buddy, Tanner, the Irish Jack Russell (dog).
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Jutta (Shyne) Avard; and his four daughters, Mo Anne Shyne and her husband, George N. Spates III, Kendra Shyne, Barbara Avard, and Cathy Avard and her husband, Jerome Johnson. Bill also leaves his awesome grandchildren, Dawson Shyne, who attends Ithaca College, and Matthew Massaro, Megan Fandrich, Samantha Chapnick and Amanda Chapnick; and two great-grandchildren of Montana.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Mary Queen of Peace Parish, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem, NH, on Friday, February 23, 2018, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salem Animal Rescue League, 4 SARL Drive, Salem, NH 03079.
