June 18, 1920 - December 11, 2018

William Riese Jr. Lawrence - William Riese Jr., 98, of Lawrence passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Salemhaven, Salem, N.H. Mr. Riese was born in Germany. He was the son of Adele (Strube) and William Riese who came to Lawrence in 1929. William was a graduate of Lawrence High School. He worked in the Lawrence area as a meat cutter.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He truly loved the outdoors. As a young man, he would travel the farms of Derry, N.H., and rid the farmers of the pesky woodchucks that would ruin the farmer’s crops.

He was also a devoted father to his daughters, Susan Cunningham of Derry, N.H., and Nancy and her husband Vincent Ferrante of Chelmsford, Mass. William was predeceased by his sister Gretchen Schuch; his sons Stephen and William Riese III; his daughter-in-law Marcia Riese and son-in-law Michael Cunningham. He also leaves his eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr Riese’s family would like to thank his friends and the staff at Salemhaven, and Amedisys Hospice Care for their kind and compassionate care.
Family and friends are invited to an hour of visitation on Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen.
