Athena R. "Tina"'s Story
Athena R. “Tina” Garcia, age 54, of Salem, N.H., died Wednesday, June 7th, at Boston Medical Center, Boston.
Tina was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She grew up and was educated in Salem, N.H., where she graduated from Salem High School in 1980, and traveled to Pennsylvania, Costa Rica, the Philippines and Hawaii while teaching and working with the disabled, as a missionary to teach the deaf and raise funds for orphanage in the Philippines, singing and acting for churches and leading prayer, before returning to Salem to care for family.
Tina was a self-employed care-giver. She was a member of Rockingham Christian Church in Salem. She enjoyed singing, worship, acting, hiking, the beach, traveling, her church families and spending time with friends and family.
Tina was predeceased by her mother, Rev. Ramona J. (Ayer) Garcia, who passed away in February.
She is survived by her father, Leonardo Garcia of Salem, N.H.; brother, Michael and his wife, Nancy Garcia of Derry, N.H.; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Patrick, Angela, and Joanna.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 11th, from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. at the Carrier Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 38 Range Rd, Windham, NH.
