Betsy Edith (Roche)'s Story
Betsy Edith (Roche) Travers of Andover, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2017, after a brief illness at the age of 76.
Born in Medford, Mass., daughter of the late William and Edith (Dillon) Roche, she attended Matignon and Medford High Schools, and Boston University, where she studied special education.
Loving wife of 51 years to Robert Travers, they made a home for 38 years in Andover. Her life’s focus was her family, and her favorite moments were spent entertaining family and friends in her beautiful Andover home. She will be remembered for devotion to family, sense of humor, love of friendship, and her warm personality that connected so easily with everyone she met.
Betsy is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Susan Worthy of Medfield, Mass., Karin Sullivan and her husband, Mark of Walpole, Mass., and Amy Gangi and her husband, Paul of Methuen, Mass. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren, Taylor Worthy, Bryce Worthy, Lindsey Sullivan, Claire Sullivan, Brody Sullivan, Austin Gangi, Rylan Gangi, and Wesley Gangi. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Lecomte of Derry, N.H., and a large family of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Francis Roche, Thomas Roche, Charles Roche, and Michael Roche.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence St., Andover. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at St. Augustine’s Church, 43 Essex St., Andover, Her burial service will be private.
