Carlene R.'s Story
Carlene R. (Mathan) Rafferty, 81, of Bradford, died Tuesday morning, June 6, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill.
She was born in Worcester, February 21, 1936, daughter of the late Charles and Barbara (Catanzaro) Mathan.
Educated in the Haverhill school system, Mrs. Rafferty graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1954.
For over 20 years she was employed in the Purchasing Department for the City of Haverhill.
A longtime member of Sacred Hearts Parish, Mrs. Rafferty enjoyed bingo, shopping, rooting for the Red Sox and cherished time spent with her grandchildren.
She was the wife of the late Leon R. Rafferty who died in 1988 and sister of the late George Mathan and Anna Loftus.
Her survivors include a daughter, Susan Zuber and her husband, William of Bradford; a son, William Rafferty and his wife Susan of Newburyport; a sister, Rosemarie Bowe of Florida; five grandchildren, Jillian and Julia Zuber, Shane, Cara and Colin Rafferty as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation on Monday, June 12, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 210 So. Main St., Bradford, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Haverhill.
