Carzell Brown, 85, of Lawrence, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Lawrence General Hospital.
He was born in Meigs, Ga., on Aug. 29, 1931, son of the late George and Minnie (Moore) Brown.
Mr. Brown was a painting contractor for many years, until his retirement in 1990.
He enjoyed reading scripture, fishing, gardening, watching movies and sports, as well as telling a good joke.
He was the husband of the late Ester (Freeman) Brown, who passed away in 1991, and is survived by his grandson, who he raised, Minister Ryan Tankersley and his wife, Julie of No. Andover; his four children, Mae Ethel Brown of Neptune, N.J., Antoinette Brown of Asbury Park, N.J., Carzell Brown of Asbury Park, N.J., and Wardell Lorenzo Brown and his wife, Karen of Norfolk, Va.; his brother, Thomas Brown of Neptune, N.J.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Rosa Bea Brown, Beatrice Brown and Trudy Brown.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Friday, May 12 from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 13 Ashland St., Haverhill, MA. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. BOX 781, Haverhill, MA 01830.
