David's Story

Text size

David Andersen, 76, a resident of Andover, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017.
He was born on February 1, 1941. Dave was surrounded by his loving family. Dave loved his family unconditionally, he loved life and he loved making new friends. He thrived on playing tennis, disco dancing, snow skiing in Vermont, and traveling to exciting locales like Prague in the 1990s, Denmark and Germany, where some of his forbears originated, Norway, Hawaii, Thailand, and China.
He was born in Glenville, N.Y. to his loving parents, Ethel and Charles Andersen. He has a surviving sister, Dianne Andersen, whom he admired greatly. While in high school, Dave was a math wiz and the star quarterback of his football team. Dave married Marcia Downing of Delhi, N.Y., whom he met while they were both students at Ithaca College. They lovingly raised three children, first in Mystic, Conn., then in Florida, and then in Massachusetts.
Dave completed his Master's Degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and worked in computer systems for Electric Boat, General Dynamics, Stromberg Carlson and Unisys. After finishing his career in computer systems he moved to St. Augustine, Fla. where he was first a real estate agent and later a volunteer for seniors. Dave said later in life he didn't want to work for money anymore, he only wanted to help others. And so he did.
Dave is survived by his loving sister, Dianne Andersen; his former wife, Marcia Andersen; their three children, Julie, Paul, and Mark; and his six grandchildren, Caimin, Catherine, Ella, Brogan, Morgan, and Erik. They are all proud of him. He didn't have a judgmental bone in his body and he was a friend to all.
ARRANGEMENTS: A wake will be held for Dave this Thursday, July 13, at the Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence St., Andover, MA from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the same location on Friday, July 14, at 1 p.m.
