Dolores A.'s Story
Dolores A (Scanlon) Gill, 85, of North Andover and Sebago Lake, Maine, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Prescott House in North Andover, following a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Bernadette Scanlon of Washington, D.C. Dolores was the widow of T. Paul Gill, who passed away in 2000.
Dolores is survived by her children, William Gill of Sebago Lake, Maine and Marianne and son-in-law, Thomas McGinnis of North Andover, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Sean and Mary McGinnis of North Andover. She leaves behind three sister-in-laws, Marguerite Scanlon, Barbara Scanlon, and Priscilla Tighe, many nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Dolores was born and raised in Washington, D.C. and was a proud member of the Scanlon clan.
Along with her parents and husband, Paul, she is reunited with her siblings, Edward Scanlon, Mary Gaegler, Bernadette Redmond, William Scanlon, Thomas Scanlon, and Joseph Scanlon.
Dolores enjoyed many years summering in Sebago Lake, Maine, where she enjoyed time with the Gill family, travelling to St. Augustine, Fla. in the winters and fondly spoke of her trips to Ireland with family. She made friends wherever she went. Dolores was a communicant of St. Michael Church, North Andover. The family would like to thank her many caregivers over the years, most recently the staff at Ashland Farms and Prescott House in North Andover.
Please join the family for calling hours at Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence St., Andover, Mass. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 12 p.m. at St. Michael Church, Main Street, North Andover, followed by internment at Ridgewood Cemetery, Salem Street, North Andover.
