Dolores's Story

Text size

Dolores Farrell, 89, passed away September 6, 2017, following a brief illness. Dolores was born in Derry, N.H., on November 11, 1927, to the late Clinton and Marie LeBlanc. She graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1945.
Growing up she loved to draw. She also loved to go rollerskating at Canobie Lake Park. She loved telling us stories about Christmas when she was a child. If she got an orange, that was a wonderful gift. She always made sure she had lots of gifts under our Christmas tree and no oranges.
Dolores worked at Raytheon in Andover as a technical illustrator. She also worked for a real estate office in North Andover as a receptionist. This opened up a new door for her. She became a real estate agent. She really enjoyed listing and selling homes and meeting people. She stayed in that business for 27 years. She won many awards and was a consistent top producer while she worked for Carlson Real Estate in North Andover. She stayed active in real estate until the age of 84. Her last sale was her own condo. She was an "old school" agent. Her first showing was all she needed.
From there she moved to Marguritts House Assisted Living in Lawrence. She had a beautiful 7th floor apartment. She loved shopping and dressing up every day. No polyester for her.
In her 89 years she had many ups and downs, but she never stopped fighting. She survived four different types of cancer.
Dolores is survived by her son, Gary O’Neil of Portsmouth, N.H.; her daughters, Susan O’Neil and partner, Tony Stanhope and Beverly O’Neil, all of Methuen; granddaughters, Lisa Sevajian and her husband, Alan of Salem, N.H. and Alex Husner and her husband, Michael of South Carolina; grandsons, Brandon Philbrick of Florida and Casey O’Neil of Methuen; great-grandsons, Justin Johnson and Trevor Johnson of Salem, N.H., all of whom she was very proud. Pictures of all of them surrounded her apartment. She always had a story to tell about them to anyone who would listen.
Her wishes were not to have a wake or a funeral. She would like her family and friends to remember her as they knew her. She will be laid to rest on September 22, 2017, at Ridgewood Cemetery, a beautiful plot with afternoon sun. Flowers will flourish. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Conte Funeral Home of North Andover. For online condolences, please visit www.contefuneralhomes.com.
