Dorothy (Halloran) Woodworth, 92, passed peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Mary Immaculate Nursing Home in Lawrence.
Born in Lawrence on March 5, 1925, to parents William James and Rita (Walsh) Halloran, Dorothy attended St. Mary’s Grammar and High Schools, and later went on to study at Burdett College in Boston. Dorothy was employed by the Lawrence Court System for over 20 years, retiring in 1993. A resident of North Andover, Dorothy was an accomplished dancer, a music aficionado, and an expert shopper. She cherished time with her family and adored her five “favorite” grandchildren. Above all, Dorothy devoted her life to the love and care of her late son, George “Georgie” Brown.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her son, George Brown, and her sister, R. Bernice Becotte. She is survived by two loving children, daughter Cynthia Mitchell and her husband, Brian, of Rye, N.H., and son, T. “Mark” Woodworth of North Andover; siblings, Eileen (Crowley) of Haverhill, William J. and his wife, Dorothy Halloran of Hampton, N.H., Fred and his wife, Fran Halloran of Lawrence, and her cherished grandchildren, Meaghan Murphy, Whitney Mitchell, Morgan Mitchell, Dane Mitchell, Alec Woodworth and Abby Woodworth, as well as countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to personally thank the staff of Mary Immaculate for the love, dedication, and compassion shown to Dorothy throughout her stay.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no public calling hours or service but instead a private celebration of life to be held at a later date.
