Eileen Marie Markey, of Edmond, Okla., was born April 18, 1940, in Lawrence, Mass., to Rodosildo and Helen DeBurro. She passed away September 9, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Eileen married John J. Markey on September 16, 1961, in North Andover, Mass. Following her graduation from North Andover High School, Eileen went to work for Raytheon Corp. as one of their first 100 employees. She, her husband, John, and their sons, moved around the country to follow John’s career in the FBI. She has the distinction of being the only spouse of an FBI agent who has received letters of commendation from the Director of the FBI and the Attorney General of the United States for help she provided during a major organized crime case. In 1978, they moved to Shelburne, Vt., where she later retired from the Pierson Library in 1997. She had a passion for traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family at the beach in New England every summer. More than anything, she loved her role as “Grammy” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, John Markey, of the home; sons, Kevin Markey and wife Dena of Edmond, Okla., and Jay Markey and wife, Kerry of Chelmsford, Mass.; grandchildren, Sarah Golay and husband, Steven of Edmond, Okla., Kristen Campbell and husband, Ben of Oklahoma City, Okla., Katie Markey, Joe Markey, and Claire Markey of Chelmsford, Mass.; great-grandchildren, Blakely Golay and Benson Campbell; two sisters, Sandra Viens of Methuen, Mass., and Virginia Morris and her husband, William of Marco Island, Fla. She leaves behind many friends from all of the places they lived and their travels. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Stephenson Cancer Center, 800 NE 10th Street, OKC, OK 73104. The family would like to thank Dr. Kathleen Moore and all of the staff at the Stephenson Cancer Center for their compassionate care they have provide. Private family services will be held.
