Ellen J. (Guyer)'s Story
Ellen J. (Guyer) Powers, age 77, of Newburyport, formerly of Merrimac and Haverhill, died Thursday afternoon at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, with loving family at her side.
One of four children of the late Gerald and Grace (Donnelly) Guyer, she was born in Revere on June 28, 1940, and was a graduate of Revere High School.
For some time she worked at the Telephone Company in Boston, and in later years became a Certified Nurse’s Assistant, working at the former Glynn Memorial Nursing Home in Haverhill.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother and self appointed caretaker of her family. Her life was all about taking care of others and helping with whatever needed to be done. No task was too big or too daunting - she always found a way and the time that was needed.
Her life’s legacy will be treasured forever by her daughter, Michelle L. Powers of Kingston, N.H.; her sons, Bradley E. Powers, Jr. and wife, Karen of Danville, N.H., and Glenn Powers and Diane White of Kingston, N.H.; her six precious grandchildren, Timothy and Stacie Powers, Benjamin and Lauren Powers, and Jackson and Tatum Goebel; her brother, Gerry and Jan Guyer of Peabody; her former husband, Bradley E. Powers of Haverhill; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Grace Guide and Marilyn Neuman.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac.
