Florence B.'s Story
Florence B. (Corbin) Tokarz, 91, died June 7, 2017, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, where she has been a resident for the past eight years.
Born in Ashland, Maine, daughter of the late Lawrence and Hilda Mae (Brochu) Corbin, she was raised in Maine before moving to Worcester, Mass., where she attended local schools.
Following her marriage to the late Paul H. Tokarz, she moved to the Jefferson section of Holden where she lived for 42 years. She was a member of Saint Mary’s Parish of Jefferson and volunteered her time at the Alzheimer’s Day Care Center in Worcester.
Mrs. Tokarz worked first as a nurse’s aide and later as a clerk in the Holden Pharmacy. She later retired from the mail room of State Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Worcester. Following her retirement, she worked as an usherette at the Foothills Theatre in Worcester.
A resident of Worcester from 1987 until moving to Plaistow in 2002, she was a member of the former Holy Angels Parish and enjoyed spending time at the Vic Geary Senior Center. She was a former member of The Single Life of Worcester, and enjoyed square dancing as a member of the Double K’s. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing, crocheting blankets and clothing, and traveling.
Predeceased by her husband, Paul H. Tokarz in 1958, Mrs. Tokarz spent the remainder of her life as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a son and daughter-in-law, Peter P. and Donna Tokarz of Phoenix and formerly of Worcester; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Todd Misiaszek of Plaistow, N.H., Paula J. and Frank Sukernick of Westborough, Mass. and Theresa “Terry” Timura of Sandown, N.H.; two brothers, Richard Corbin of Dudley, Mass. and Roger Corbin of Gloucester, Mass.; also seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Lawrence Corbin and Paul Corbin, and sisters, Pauline Beckham, Frances Cook, Dorothy Campbell, and Helen Fisk.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, June 15, 2017, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson, Mass. Her Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12 p.m. followed by burial in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
