Frances (Dorff)'s Story
Frances (Dorff) Sherman, 90, of Highland Beach, Fla. and Marblehead, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2017 in Boca Raton, Fla.
Born on February 1, 1927 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Joseph and Bessie Cooperman Dorff of Haverhill. She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Goldman and by her cherished husband of 67 years, Richard Sherman.
She is survived by her children, Jonathan Sherman of New Haven, Conn., Susan and Gregory Welch of Andover, Melissa & John O'Mara of West Hartford, Conn. and Stephen & Susan Sherman of Needham. Fran was a loving grandmother to her beloved Amy, Cayla, Elise, Joshua, Joseph and Rebecca and great-grandchildren Eli, Nolan and Naomi.
Frances was the ultimate homemaker who excelled in everything she did, from sewing to knitting and painting, from cooking to avid gardening and taking care of her family. With her artistic talent she made everything beautiful. Frances attended Vesper George School of Art, where she studied fashion design. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
The graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 14th at 11 a.m. in the Children of Israel Cemetery, Middle Rd., Haverhill. Friends and family are welcome to sit Shiva from 3 to 6 p.m. at the home of Stephen Sherman, on Sunday, May 14th. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford. Donations may be made to Neurofibromatosis Inc. Northeast, 9 Bedford St., Burlington, MA 01803, in memory of Frances Sherman.
