Francis "Frank" X. Connors, Jr., 76, of Belmont, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 20, 2017.
Beloved husband of the late Eleanor (Freeley) Connors. Devoted father of Joseph "Jay" Connors and his wife, Anne of Taunton, Timothy F. Connors and his wife, Patricia of Watertown, Carolyn Greenfield and her husband, Charles of Salem, N.H., and Christine M. Antonellis and her husband, Daniel of Belmont. Cherished grandfather of Joseph Connors Jr., Andrew, Molly, Ryan, Elizabeth, Danielle, Rebecca, Timothy F. Jr. and Catherine, Connor and Kayleigh Greenfield, Daniel and Emily Antonellis. Loving brother of Charles, Marion Lockhead, Patricia, John “Jack” and James Connors. Frank is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and many friends.
Mr. Connors was born in South Boston, September 22, 1940, the son of the late Francis X. (Sr.) and Beatrice (McElaney) Connors. He was a graduate of Dorchester High School, Class of 1958. He has resided in Belmont for 43 years. Mr. Connors served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, worked at the former Western Electric in Watertown, and was a member of the Retired Men's Club of Arlington.
Mr. Connors retired in 2005 after 35 years as a Boston firefighter. His assignments included Engine 34 in Brighton, Ladder #14 in Union Square, and concluded with the Marine Unit. He was a member of the International Association of Firefighters (Local 718).
Funeral from the Stanton Funeral Home, 786 Mt. Auburn St. (Route 16), Watertown, on Monday, at 8:45 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Camillus Church, Concord Trnpk. Arlington at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 3 to 7 p.m. Interment at the Highland Meadow Cemetery in Belmont.
