Georgette G.'s Story
Georgette G. (Ward) McKay Stryeski, 84, of Groveland, passed away Sunday, May 21, at her daughter’s home with her family by her side.
Georgette was born in Haverhill on Dec. 11, 1932, the daughter of the late George and Juliette (Paris) Ward.
She was raised in Bradford and attended Haverhill public schools. Georgette graduated from Haverhill High School with the class of 1949 and after raising children, she was employed for many years at AT&T.
Georgette lived a very active and engaged life centered around her family and friends. She enjoyed reading, baking, gardening, shopping, entertaining and traveling the world with her family. Georgette made friends wherever she went and her endless amount of energy amazed them all.
She was predeceased by her husband Edward Stryeski who passed away in 2001, her brothers Armand and Lawrence Ward, sisters Theresa Lapierre, and Norma Knowlton, and her step brother John Regan.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her four children, Jay McKay and his wife, Wendy of Rye, NH., Thomas McKay and his wife, Rima of New York City, N.Y., Douglas McKay and his wife, Normita of Belmont and Patricia Firger and her husband Jon of Haverhill, 10 loving grandchildren, Allison, Katharine and Erin McKay, Elizabeth Fryman and her husband, Michael, Andrew Firger, Christopher Firger and his wife, Sienna, Georgia and Jake McKay and their mother, Kimberly Sheppard, Victoria and Micaela McKay, three great-grandchildren, two stepchildren, Debbie Noyes and her husband, Bert and Ellen Edes and her husband, Gary and several nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the MGH Cancer Center for their compassionate care. They would also like to express their gratitude to her team of caregivers from Merrimack Valley Hospice for the care their mother received and to Georgette's friends for their loving support during her illness.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral Mass on Friday, May 26, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St., Bradford. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Mass General Tucker-Gosnell Cancer Center or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
