Henrietta Dunn's Story
Henrietta Stanfield Dunn Johnson, 90, died peacefully in N. Andover June 26, 2017. She was the wife of the late Haynes Norton Johnson, daughter of Barbara Stanfield Dunn Johnson and Henry Teasdale Dunn of Bronxville, NY and sister of Josephine Hill Dunn Dauphiné of Blowing Rock, N.C, Lucile Holliday of Hingham, Mass. and the late Terry Teasdale Dunn Drorbaugh.
She was a graduate of Scarsdale High School and Smith College. After marriage in 1947 the couple resided in N.Y.C., Bronxville, N.Y., Cohasset, Mass., Greenwich, Conn. and then moved to Roxbury, Conn. where Henrietta continued lifelong interests in her family, art, literature, poetry, music, the outdoors, her pets and church. She had a lovely voice and sang in her church choir for years. Later in life her religion profoundly influenced her daily activities and spiritual search. She and Haynes enjoyed many seasons sailing on Long Island Sound and skiing in New England. She and Haynes moved to Edgewood Retirement Community in N. Andover in 2010 where she was known for her articles in the community magazine and for her beloved schnauzer dog, Gracie.
Henrietta will be greatly missed by her four sons, Henry Johnson of Virginia, Kent Johnson and wife, Gile Beye of Cambridge, Shepard Johnson of Andover, Haynes Johnson, Jr. and four grandchildren, Evan Johnson of Marietta, Ga., Julia Fields of Monterey, Calif., Josephine Johnson of Arlington, and Abigail Johnson of Andover, and numerous nieces and a nephew.
A funeral service will be held at Christ Church, Andover, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service.
