John C.'s Story
John C. Wilkins, 93, of Georgetown, passed away on June 30, 2017. He was born in Georgetown on February 23, 1924, to John Hilliard Wilkins and Alice Ella Boyd. After graduating from Perley High School, he enlisted in the Army and served in World War II. John and his friend, Harold Nunan, owned The Woodcraft Shop in Georgetown. He was later employed by Spaulding Colonial Reproductions Inc. and the Georgetown School Department. He and his wife enjoyed a love of ballroom dancing and taught many locals how to dance.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lenorma (Donahue) Wilkins; two sons, John and Glenn of Georgetown; and one daughter, Brenda Wilkins Knight and her husband, Timothy of Sandown, N.H. He is also survived by a sister, Sylvia (Wilkins) George of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Matthew Knight, Eric Knight, Erinne (Knight) Metcalf; two great-grandchildren, Connor Knight and William Metcalf; as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert Woodbury Wilkins and Richard Bruce Wilkins.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend his Funeral Service on Saturday, July 8, at 11 a.m. in the Conte - Giamberardino Family Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown. Interment is private. Visiting with the family will be held prior to his service from 10 to 11 a.m.
