John Michael's Story

John Michael McGuire, 67, of North Andover passed away peacefully after a long illness on Oct. 4, 2017.
John was born in Lawrence, Mass., on March 9, 1950. He attended North Andover Schools, Northern Essex Community College and the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. Following high school, he proudly served his country honorably for 6 years in the U.S. Navy. After basic training, he served aboard the USS Columbus until it was decommissioned in 1975. Prior to his retirement, John worked at Raytheon for 42 years and also for McAloon’s Liquors in North Andover where he enjoyed staying in touch with local friends. He enjoyed golfing with his golf league and attending their annual golf outing. He also enjoyed mercilessly teasing his grandchildren.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Susan (Trank) McGuire, and their children, Kelly McGuire, and her son, Patrick of Grapevine, Texas; Amy McGuire, and her children, Samantha, Hunter, Joshua, and Kaeden of Haverhill; Timothy McGuire and his wife, Kyla, and their children, Brailyn, Jocelyn and Cameron of North Andover. He also leaves nine siblings and their spouses, Kathi and David Gallant, Jim and Susan McGuire, Anne Marie and Bob Gagnon, Noreen and Dane Hubbard, Kevin McGuire, Michael and Lisa McGuire, Paul and Kathy Slade/McGuire, Shirley and Joe Ciccolo, and Tricia and Rich Minassian. He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law and their spouses, Gail and Bill Compagnone, and June and Scott Robinson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. John was predeceased by his parents, James and Shirley (Gillis) McGuire.
Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Church and burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery, both in North Andover.
