Joseph E.'s Story
Joseph E. Morrison, 90, of Andover, died August 31, 2017, at the Meadows Rehabilitation Center at Edgewood in North Andover after a brief illness. Joseph was the son of the late Timothy and Sadie (McDonough) Morrison. He honorably served in the U.S. Army Airforce in the Pacific during WWII, was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Lawrence - Division 8 and was an avid golfer and member of the Andover Hacker's Club. Joseph was an outgoing and friendly person who would make friends everywhere he went. He and his wife, Maureen, were longtime active members and supporters of St. Augustine's Church and school in Andover. Joseph also started the Andover Irish Association to gather with friends and celebrate their Irish Heritage. Joseph was the M.I.S. Director at W.R. Grace first in Lexington and later in Woburn.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Maureen A. (Martel) Morrison of Andover; daughters, Marianne Morrison Merritt and husband, Mark of Andover and Cara Morrison of Lawrence. He was predeceased by his son, Christopher Martel Morrison who was in the World Trade Center on Sept. 11th. Joseph is also survived by his granddaughter, Elizabeth Merritt and niece, Ann Morrison Tanner. He was also predeceased by his brother, Timothy Morrison Jr. and niece, Margaret Morrison.
Family and friends called on Tuesday, Sept. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence Street, Andover, MA 01810. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church, Andover. Burial will follow in West Parish Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 43 Essex Street, Andover, MA 01810.
