Joyce (Bevin)'s Story
Joyce (Bevin) Washington passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on April 29, 2017, at her home Ashland Farm in North Andover. She was born in Andover, Mass., on May 26, 1929, the daughter of the late Florence E. (Kent) and Samuel H. Bevin. She was the wife of the late Albert Washington.
Joyce was raised in North Andover and attended North Andover schools, including Johnson High School. She worked in Osgood Mills in North Andover and as a nurse’s aide at Lawrence General Hospital. Joyce was a member of the Fidelity Chapter of Eastern Star, Haverhill Shrine Number 1 and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where she sang in the choir and served on the Altar Guild and ECW. She was also a member of the North Andover Senior Center.
Joyce is survived by her loving family including her cousin and caretaker, Gail and husband, Russell Buturlia; brothers, Ralph and wife, Barbara; brother, David and his wife, Carolyn; many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as friends.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with Eastern Star Service at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover, MA 01845. A funeral service with Holy Eucharist will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Ridgewood Cemetery. Luncheon will be held at church following the burial.
