Kenneth E.'s Story

Kenneth E. Folsom, 91, of Salem, N.H., died Monday, May 8, at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Derry, N.H.
Ken was born and educated in Boscawen, N.H. He received his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from UNH. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II. Ken retired from Western Electric where he was an electrical engineer.
He was an active member of First Congregational Church in Salem since 1954 and he had served as a deacon and the clerk. He was a member of the Board of Adjustment in Salem for 25 years, a member of the Salem Conservation Commission, a member of the Audubon Society and the Merrimack Valley Bird Club and a member of the Horace Chase Masonic Lodge in Penacook. Ken loved running and was one of the founders of New England 65+ Runners Club where he is in the Hall of Fame. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth (Cotnoir) Folsom; and his siblings, Stanley Folsom, Roland Folsom and Gladys Turner.
Ken is survived by his wife, Joyce (Marshall) Folsom; his children, Brian Folsom and wife, Susan of Chester, N.H., Andrea Rohde and husband, Harvey of Kennebunk, Maine, and Cheryl Folsom of Goose Creek, S.C.; his step-children, Robert O'Neil of Londonderry, N.H., Joyce "Jodie" Piccirillo and husband, Donald of Salem, N.H., Laurie Ann Oliver and husband, Shawn, and Colleen Knudson and husband, Jens of Loudon, N.H.; his sisters, Barbara Stebbins of Boscawen, N.H., and Sandra Trottier and husband, Edward of Florida; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's name may be made to: First Congregational Church, 15 Lawrence Rd., Salem, NH 03079. Arrangements are under the care of Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St. Salem, N.H.
