Margaret J.'s Story
Margaret J. (Maguire) Chabot, 91, of Winchester and formerly of Haverhill and Deerfield Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully at home on May 20, 2017.
She was born in Calais, Maine to Grace (Coughlin) Maguire of Stanley, New Brunswick, Canada and Daniel T. Maguire of Calais, Maine. Her parents relocated to Haverhill to work in the shoe manufacturing industry where Margaret attended catholic schools, graduating first in her class at Saint James High School. After graduation, she declined a more lucrative job opportunity in Washington, D.C., and accepted a job at Western Electric where she met the love of her life, Normand C. Chabot. Normand and Margaret were married in 1948 and remained devoted to each other for over 65 years until Normand's death in 2013. Every night of their marriage, no matter what kind of day they had shared, Normand would say I love you, Peg, and she would say, I love you more.
In addition to her husband, Margaret was predeceased by her son, Donald N. Chabot. She is survived by her children, Mary Cameron and husband, Gerry of Salem, N.H., Attorney Daniel T. Chabot of Newburyport, and Attorney Dianne G. Chabot and her husband, Attorney Michael D.C. Wagner of Winchester; her grandchildren, Jennifer DiMario, Matthew and Christopher Rayno, Christa Roth, Sarah M. Flores, Daniel T. Chabot, Jr., Molly M. Chabot, Allsun Chabot O'Malley, and Grace and Laura Wagner; and nine great-grandchildren. Margaret brought kindness, grace, and wisdom wherever she went and she will be dearly missed.
