Marguerite's Story

Text size

Marguerite (Murray) LaFrance, went to her Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 28, 2017.
Marguerite was born in Cambridge, Mass., on February 15, 1926, and lived in Lawrence, Mass., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Port St. Lucie, Fla. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John, and is survived by her loving children, Joan (Bill) Hillegas, Kathleen and John; grandchildren, David Hillegas, Stacey (Drew) Toal, Jennifer Turner; and great-grandson, Caden Turner. Her family was one of her greatest joys and her life was one fulfilled and exemplary. Marguerite had a long career at BellSouth, retired in 1987, and was a proud member of the "TOTO's" and the Pioneers. She volunteered at Holy Cross Hospital, The American Cancer Society, Women in Distress, PETA, and many other organizations. Marguerite and her husband, Johnny, were avid travelers and enjoyed seeing the sights of the world together. After Johnny's early death, she taught crafts on cruise ships, large and small, and continued her world travels.
Her love of sewing was exemplified by her donations of homemade stuffed dolls for children in crisis given by the Police and Fire Departments and thousands of blankets for the neonates at Holy Cross. She also taught sewing to children in need at the Boca Raton Sewing Guild.
Donations to PETA or Catholic Hospices in lieu of flowers in Marguerite's name.
