Maria A.'s Story
Maria Anne Karcasinas, 65, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, July 16, 2017.
Ms. Karcasinas was born in Worcester on June 26, 1952, the daughter of the late Peter and Julia (Lathas) Karcasinas.
She was educated in the Haverhill school system and graduated from Haverhill High School.
Maria was employed in the banking industry until her retirement in 2015.
Maria spent time enjoying the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed word challenges. Playing Scrabble, and doing crosswords kept her busy, along with walks along the beach with close friends, and her Yorkie (Sammi). She also spent time going to plays, and watching the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics. She loved music, and listened to it all the time on her back porch, while talking with family and friends.
Her strengths were her kindness, consideration, and love for others, matched by a strong willed work ethic.
Maria is survived by her brother, Theodore Karcasinas and his wife, Janet of Plano, Texas; nieces and nephew, Teddy, Amanda, and Courtney Karcasinas; as well as her aunt, Bessie Vitas; and cousins, Ted and Jim Vitas, and Bille, Diana, and Ted Sanborn. Especially close were her friendships with Maureen Thompson and Barbara MacKinnon.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her calling hours on Wednesday, July 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Her funeral service will follow the calling hours at 7:15 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of her family.
