Namen's Story

Namen Nassif Sr., 89, of Danbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Western Rehabilitation Center, Danbury.
Namen is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy (Madison); his son, Namen, Jr. and his wife, Roberta of Naugatuck and their daughter, Tiffany St. Peter of Virginia, her husband, Christopher and their children, Becca and Sam; and his daughter, Beverly Caceres and her husband, Edward of New Milford and their daughters, Mercedes "Sadie" and Sabriyya; and several nieces and nephews.
Namen was born in Methuen, Mass., January 20, 1928, son of Joseph and Sadie (Fadel) Nassif.
Namen relocated to Danbury in 1942, coming from Lawrence, Mass. He attended Danbury schools and Danbury Technical School. In high school, he enjoyed being on the baseball and basketball teams.
A retired carpenter with the former A.A. Canzler Construction Company of Bethel, Namen was a member of Union Local #210. He was a talented carpenter and woodworker, his proudest accomplishment was building his own home with the help of his son.
He was a member of St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church of Danbury and a member of the Lebanon American Club. In addition to his passion for woodworking, he was an avid bowler. He was on many leagues at the Danbury Bowlarama and Sokol Lanes and won many tournaments. He also loved to play poker, blackjack, and billiards. When he was younger, he was known to support his family at times by playing. Later in life, he enjoyed taking trips to the local casinos.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Nassif was predeceased by two sisters, Lorice T. Nassif and Margaret Tavella.
Graveside funeral services and burial will take place on Friday, July 14, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Peter Cemetery, Section 19, Danbury, Conn. with Fr. Naji Kiwan and Sub deacon George Jabbour officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
