Ralph Griswold of North Andover passed away on April 18, 2017, at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers, Mass. Ralph was born February 11, 1940, to Harold and Frederica (Donley) Griswold. He grew up in Worcester and West Boylston, graduated from West Boylston High School in 1958, and from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1963 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He began his career at the Norton Company in Worcester and later moved on to jobs with Pratt & Whitney, General Tire, MIT and others.
In 1977 he married Jane Dickson, and they moved to their North Andover home where he enjoyed working on projects, reading up on new technology, listening to his collection of classical music, and taking walks with Jane and their beloved Golden Retrievers.
Ralph was predeceased by his loving wife, Jane in 2009. After her passing, he spent many enjoyable days with old and new friends at the North Andover Senior Center and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Other time was spent researching online, walking his dogs, assisting his sister with home projects and repairs, and reconnecting with Holly Nylander, a friend from his youth.
Ralph was predeceased by his youngest sister, Cynthia Ohlin. He leaves behind his sisters, Marilyn Griswold of West Boylston and Suzanne Roberts of Concord, N.H.; his brother-in-law, Carl Ohlin of East Longmeadow; nieces, Rebecca Urban, Abigail Klinger, Hannah Butler, Nancy Dickson, Roz Waters, and Jane Purser; and nephews, Darren and Carleton Roberts; as well as cousins and many grand-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their thanks to Ralph and Jane’s dear friend, Linda Schrader, who provided much concern, assistance, and support during Ralph’s last months following his accident. Our thanks also to the health care providers and the compassionate folks of the Kaplan House.
Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 390 Main St., North Andover, MA 01845 or to the charity of one's choice.
