Rita M.'s Story
Rita M. Cole, 88, of Salem, N.H., passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. She was born in Reading, Mass., the daughter of the late George E. and Mary E. (Doucette) Lorgeree.
Rita worked as an LPN for the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Mass., working as an ICU nurse for many years prior to her retirement in 1993. She was an avid sports fan, particularly rooting for the Red Sox and Patriots. She also loved spending her summers at Cape Cod or anywhere by the ocean. The most important thing to her was family, especially the one-on-one time she enjoyed spending with each of her grandchildren.
Rita was predeceased by her husband, William “Bill” Cole and three sisters, Florence Carter, Mildred Melendy and Gertrude Gordon. She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Cornwell of Hampstead, N.H., and Sharon Pezone and her husband, Paul of Derry, N.H.; five grandsons, William Cornwell and his wife, Kelly; Ryan Cornwell; Paul Pezone, Jr. and his wife, Michelle, Michael Pezone and his wife, Laura; and Matthew Pezone and his fiancée, Christine. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Kendall Cornwell, Paul Pezone, III, and Roman Pezone.
Following cremation a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017 at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, N.H. The family will greet friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
