Robert M.'s Story
Robert M. Bourdelais, 62, of Methuen, passed away peacefully after a courageous and long battle on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.
He was born in Lawrence and is the son of Doris (Makin) Bourdelais of Methuen and the late Joseph Robert Bourdelais.
Bob was raised and educated in Methuen. He joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1974-1978. After his service to his country, Bob worked as a crane operator for Shea Concrete in Wilmington and later as a truck driver for Benevento Sand & Gravel in Wilmington. Bob enjoyed all sports - basketball, baseball, hockey, as well as biking, weight lifting and running. One of his most proud accomplishments was completing the 1978 Boston Marathon in a time of 3hrs:45 minutes.
Bob is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Susan K. (Laverriere) Bourdelais; his mother, Doris; sister, Cynthia of Lowell; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Robert (Bob) may be made in support of Dr. Andrew Zhu’s cholangiocarcinoma research. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Sunday, August 20, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen.
