Roger's Story

Text size

Roger Marchand, 57, of Salem, N.H., passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 in Salem, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born in Lawrence, a son of Leon and Jeannine (LaChance) Marchand. Roger grew up in Methuen. He owned and operated his own General Contracting Business, Structural Design. He was always working and took great pride in his work and taking care of his family. He also took pride in maintaining longtime friendships with his childhood friends. Roger was a great mechanic and enjoyed restoring old cars, having a special place in his heart for GTO’s. He also loved playing drums and spending time at his camp in Northwood. As difficult as it is to accept and how it sounds, Roger died doing what he loved, riding his Harley.

He is survived by his father, Leon Marchand and his companion, Roberta Simmons of Salem; his mother, Jeannine Marchand of Methuen; his longtime companion, Karen Freeman of Salem; his son, Nicholas Marchand of Derry, N.H.; a stepdaughter, Tara McAllister Gonzalez and her wife Cristina Gonzalez McAllister of Derry; his sister, Cheryl Boucher and her companion, Keith Oatman of Sandown, a niece, Stephanie Boucher and his furry kids, Cali and Pookie.
Following cremation a celebration of life service and gathering will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Salem VFW Post #8546 Hall, 42 North Broadway, Salem. The Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, Salem is assisting the family with the arrangements.
