Rolande Alberta's Story
Rolande Alberta (Arel) Egbert, age 87, of Plymouth, died Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Plymouth following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Howard R. Egbert and the daughter of the late Joseph and Florette (Doucette) Arel. Born in Montreal, Canada, she was raised in Claremont, N.H. Rolande lived in Rutland, Vt., Manchester, N.H., Winslow, Maine, Groveland and South Dennis, Mass., before moving to Plymouth in December 2017. She, along with her husband, Howard, owned and operated Laro's Country Store in Quechee, Vt., and The Glass Unicorn in South Dennis. She kept herself active with the activities at Brookdale Assisted Living and enjoyed the kindness and compassionate care there. Rolande was a volunteer at Claremont Hospital and active with the Georgetown Council on Aging's doll-making group.
She is survived by her son, Gregory Egbert and his wife, Deb of Meredith, N.H.; a daughter, Nancy A. Kumar and her husband, Anil A. of Plymouth; her brother, Paul Arel of Hartford, Conn.; a sister, Cecile Moscatiello of Salisbury, Md.; three grandchildren, Alexander and Brianne Kumar and Lauren Egbert; as well as two sisters-in-law, Janice Anderson of Portsmouth, N.H., and Jean Egbert of Harwich, Mass.
A Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, 313 Court Street, Plymouth, MA on Saturday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Arrangements are by Cartmell-Davis Funeral Homes, Plymouth, MA.
