Ruth Hyder's Story
Ruth Hyder Bouzianis passed away peacefully on Saturday with her family by her side. Ruth was born in Lawrence, the daughter of the late Abraham and Elizabeth (Ofeish) Hyder. She resided in Haverhill for most of her life and was a graduate of Haverhill High School and Banfield Academy. An accomplished soloist, Ruth pursued a career in music. She sang professionally in her church choir as well as entertaining troops at USO shows. Trained in cosmetology, Ruth was the owner and operator of Ruth Hyder Beauty Salon in the early 1940s. Ruth is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dean D. Bouzianis of Haverhill, with whom she opened Nostalgia, an antique store on Washington St., Haverhill in the 1980s.
Ruth will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her devoted husband, she leaves behind her three children, James D. Bouzianis and his wife, Melissa (Farrah) Bouzianis of North Hampton, N.H.; Elizabeth, wife of Dr. Kenneth T. George of Newmarket, N.H.; and Mark D. Bouzianis of Newfields, N.H. In addition, Ruth is survived by 10 grandchildren, Gita Beach, Iris Litterio, Ruth George, Thomas George, Katherine Bouzianis, Matthew Bouzianis, Nicholas Bouzianis, Stephen Bouzianis, Anastasia George and Michael Bouzianis; two great-granddaughters, Vivian Litterio and Abigail Beach; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins and a sister-in-law, Delores Hyder. She is also survived by her devoted caregiver, Anna Gichimu. Ruth was predeceased by her siblings, William Hyder, Besima McGuire, Mitchell Hyder, Katherine Kaneb and Edward Hyder. Ruth was a beautiful person who lived a wonderful life and gave unconditional love, kindness and friendship to all.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 156 Winter St., Haverhill, MA 01830. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. Friends may call Wednesday, May 10, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, where Ruth will lie in state. Memorial contributions in Ruth's memory may be made to Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Farrah Funeral Home of Lawrence, Mass.
