Soon Hee's Story
Soon Hee Pak, 97, longtime resident of Lawrence, was called to our Lord on May 5, 2017 surrounded by her loving and devoted family at the Mary Immaculate Nursing Home.
Soon was born July 13, 1919 in Korea. In Korea she married and a raised a family with her husband. After the death of her husband, Soon immigrated to the United States in 1980. After arriving to the United States she settled in the Lawrence area. Known as a long upstanding resident of the Lawrence community, she used her devotion to her new country and eventually became a naturalized U.S. citizen. Soon was a devout Catholic and worshipped at several different parishes in the Merrimack Valley. She was deeply loved by her family and will fondly be remembered and cherished.
Soon is survived by her three loving children: her daughter, ChungSoon Yu of Phoenix, Ariz.; her daughter, YoungJa Cheun of Seoul, Korea; and her son, Chong Pak and his wife Myong of Methuen. She is the dear grandmother to her grandchildren, KyongHwan, YoungAe, WonKyong, YongHo, YongKyu, HoSung, EunJu, YoungJu and Lisa. Soon is the cherished great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren including Cynthia and Matthew of Methuen. Soon was predeceased by her husband, Dukhung Pak.
Friends and family are cordially invited to visitation for Soon on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St, Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 9 a.m. at Saint Monica’s Parish, 212 Lawrence St, Methuen, Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 N.
