Stephen F.'s Story
Stephen Francis Teahan Jr., 62, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2017.
He was born on December 16, 1954, in Cambridge, Mass. to the late Stephen Francis Teahan and Marion (Gallagher) Teahan.
Steve was a Vietnam-era veteran, having served in the Air Force. After being discharged, he obtained his Bachelor's of Science degree in electronics engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology. He went on to have a long and successful career at Textron Systems in Wilmington, and worked most recently at Raytheon in Sudbury and Marlborough.
Steve valued education and said it was the one thing that you cannot take away from someone. He was happy to see all three of his children obtain bachelor’s degrees and start careers in their respective fields. He regularly reminded his children of the importance of hard work and being persistent.
He was also interested in politics at the local, state, and national level. This was an interest he wished to pursue further in retirement.
His family will miss regular trips with him to the White Mountains in New Hampshire, a place that Steve had hoped to move to in retirement. He enjoyed nature and would take his family hiking, kayaking, and sightseeing. His unique sense of humor is also something that will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Kathleen (Mahoney) Teahan of Salem; his three children and one daughter-in-law, Stephen Francis Teahan, III and wife, Vicky of Salem, Christopher Teahan of Salem, and Lindsay Teahan of Salem; his siblings, Patricia Roderick of Somerville, Mass., Maureen Teahan of Somerville, Mass., Joanie Bottiggi of Everett, Mass., Kay Teahan of Winchester, Mass., Carole Tessicini of Tewksbury, Mass., and Robert Teahan of Medford, Mass.; his special aunts, Barbara Keohane and Mary Flannery; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, N.H. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd., Salem, N.H. Burial is in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
