Terrence M.'s Story

Terrence Michael Breen, born in 1940 to Jeremiah and Elizabeth Breen of Lawrence, passed away from cancer in his home on May 28, 2017, in Seminole, Fla., with his wife of nearly 53 years, Maureen (Guerin) Breen and his daughter Kelly by his side.
He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Gonya and son-in-law, Daniel Gonya of Sturbridge, Mass.; his granddaughter, Chelsea Lord of Boynton Beach, Fla.; his granddaughters, Felicity and Faith Sabatino of Wellington, Fla.; his sister, Elizabeth Wilder of Reading, Mass.; and his brother, John Breen of Lawrence. A daughter, Karen Breen of Wellington, Fla., predeceased him in June, 2015.
Terry was active in the Marine Corps. for three years and retired from the Reserves after 23 years with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was an elected school committee representative from Methuen for the Lawrence Regional Vocational Technical High School. He retired from the Lawrence school system in 2002 and was blessed to enjoy nearly 15 years of retirement in Seminole, Fla. and Sturbridge, Mass. For 20 years he served as a member of the Continental Marines on the U.S.S. Constitution.
Terry was well known for his love of his family, country, and friends. His wit and knack for captivating story-telling are legendary among his family and friends. Also, well known is his love of water. He spent summers during high school and college as a life guard at Salisbury Beach, and in his later years enjoyed a few weeks each summer for 15 years at Lake Winnipesaukee with his family.
A true gentleman, he was kind and gentle, and gave of himself to many individuals and organizations. Most notably, he never said an unkind word about anyone. As a result, he benefited from numerous strong and long-lasting friendships, many of which were formed from childhood.
Calling hours will be at Serenity Funeral Home, Largo, Fla.
Burial will be at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Fla.
