Thomas G.'s Story
Thomas G.”Tommy” Nickerson, IV, 18, of Salem, N.H. passed away May 5th.
He was born March 1, 1999 in Melrose, Mass. and he attended Salem Schools and was currently at the Wediko School. Tommy had a love of sports and he just finished up a successful basketball season for the Wediko Stars winning Defensive Player of the Year.
His pride and passion were for his favorite sport, football. Tommy was a quiet sole, however, once he stepped on the football field he made a lot of noise. Tommy played for the Salem Rams throughout his youth. Tommy was fortunate to have many coaches who helped him throughout his many years involved with sports.
Tommy had many great football achievements: 7th grade FBU All Star, 8th grade AYF NH All Star Team, 9th grade Diamond All American Team and UNH Football Camp three time MVP winner. He played for the Salem Blue Devils. Tommy volunteered in his spare time to help coach younger Rams players. Tommy also had a love for music with his hilarious raps and dance moves which always brought a smile to his family and friends. Tommy enjoyed and looked forward to family gatherings and was always great with younger kids.
Tommy’s past year at Wediko School was one of his best years. He made many friends, went on many adventures, enjoyed volunteer work at Fast Friends for retired greyhounds. He learned to snow board, rock climb and he excelled in all of his classes. Tommy had a great loving, caring support team. Tommy struggled silently for many years with mental health illness. Tommy put on a great front, but was deeply hurting inside. He had his ups and downs that went along with this illness. We as parents want more awareness to help all struggling kids. Tommy had been fortunate enough to have many people in his corner.
Tommy will be sadly missed by his devoted, dedicated, loving parents, Tom and Alyssa Nickerson; his sister, Carissa; his brother, Bailey, special aunts and uncles, Evelyn and James White, Mary and Louie Forgione, Edward and Donna Shaw; his grandparents and many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, friends and his second loving supporting family, Meaghan O’Leary, John Delee Sr., JJ and JoJo.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 10th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH 03079. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 11th at 11 a.m. at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home. Please arrive by 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, N.H.
