Thomas R.'s Story
Thomas R. Mignanelli, 83, of Methuen, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House.
Born in Methuen, he was the son of the late Giacomo “Sharkey” and Ida (Longo) Mignanelli-Wlodyka.
Tom was raised and educated in Methuen. He and his father owned and operated Sharkey’s Barber Shop in Methuen. He also was co-owner of the Kenya Club, Lawrence, Sharkey’s Club in Lawrence, and the Tower Hill Variety Store in Lawrence. After his retirement, he also worked as a bartender at the Roma Restaurant in Bradford and Rockingham Park in Salem, N.H.
Tom was a Korean War veteran and served with the U.S. Airforce. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and also volunteered his time at the V.A. Hospital in Manchester, NH. Family was everything to him. He loved and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed painting bird houses.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sandra (Lord) Mignanelli and his brother, James Mignanelli.
Tom is survived by his son, Jack Roy and his wife, Joan of Haverhill; daughters, Kimberly Dittrich and her husband, Joseph of Salem, N.H., and Laurie Grant and her husband, Keith of Methuen; brothers, Clement Wlodyka of Florida, Edward “Gene” Wlodyka and his wife, Sue of Salem, N.H.; sister, Jeanette DeNuccio of Methuen. He also leaves seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, August 10, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
