U.S.Air Force Master Sgt.William E's Story
U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. William E. Query (Ret.) 81, a longtime resident of Plaistow and former member of the Plaistow Police Department, died May 29, 2017 at Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont.
Born in Concord, Cabarrus County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late John and Everetta (Mull) Query. As a young man growing up he resided in several Mid-Atlantic states and graduated from South Plainfield, N.J. High School. A veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War he served for two years in the U.S. Army before beginning a long career with the U.S. Air Force retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1975 with over 20 years of service.
A resident of Plaistow since 1975, Mr. Query joined the Plaistow Police Department shortly after moving to town and served as a Sergeant and Training Office and Acting Lieutenant, often volunteering his services at no cost to the town. He served briefly as the Chief of Police and later as the Police Chief of South Hampton. He also was employed for several years by Wackenhutt Security and Process Engineering of Plaistow.
Mr. Query served on the Building Committee for the present Plaistow Safety Complex as well as on the committee for the new addition. He was a former Pop Warner Football coach and former President of the Timberlane Regional High School Football Boosters Club. He also enjoyed showing the Sable Burmese Cats that his wife raised. An avid New England Patriots fan, he also enjoyed working on his computer.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Jane (Wood) Query, a son William E. Query, Jr. of Plaistow; a daughter and son-in-law, Lesley A. and John Chaisson of Charlton; two brothers, James Query and John Query, both of Michigan; seven grandchildren, Jake, Jessica, Katelyn, Casey, Brenna, Emily and Meghan, a great-grandchild, Cassidy, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Linda Bowzner and a daughter Lauren Gahan.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, N.H. The rendering of Military Honors by the U.S. Air Force will follow at 7:15 p.m. in the Military Memorial Plaza.
