Vicki A. (DeLuca)'s Story
Vicki A. (DeLuca) Wood, 59, of Hagerstown and formerly of Haverhill, Mass., and Midland, Mich., passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May, 23, 2017.
Born in Heidelburg, Germany, daughter of Richard DeLuca and Geraldine (Zins) DeLuca, she was raised and educated in Haverhill and was a resident of Hagerstown for the last several years.
Vicki’s life was rooted in faith and love of her family. This set a clear path which she walked with uncommon resolve. Her focus on these enduring values led to her preference for uncomplicated activities, such as camping, bike rides for ice-cream, service to the community and early morning picnics. Her daily life of humble service was an inspiration to her family; her unwavering faith, a source of strength to everyone around her.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Stewart Wood; her five sons, Kevin Wood and his wife, Jessica of Radford, Va., Patrick Wood and his wife, Sarah of Columbus, Ohio, Thomas Wood of Virginia, Vassily Wood and Alexei Wood, both of Hagerstown; her father and step-mother, Richard and Marie “Betty” (Morin) DeLuca of Plaistow, N.H.; her mother, Geraldine (Zins) DeLuca of Maine; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Thomas Ganley, and Karen and Steve Gudroe; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Rhonda DeLuca, and Paul and Wendy DeLuca; grandsons, Theodore and Christopher Wood; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 224 West Washington St., Hagerstown, MD. A private burial will be held at Saint Agnes Cemetery in Sanford, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Solanus Casey Center, 1780 Mt. Elliot St., Detroit, MI.
