Angel Garcia Jr. Obituary

Wrentham - Angel M. Garcia, 83, of Wrentham, MA, formerly of Andover, passed away on July 9, 2026.

Known affectionately as "A" by family and friends, Angel was born in Cuba to Sarah Odoardo and Angel M. Garcia Sr. He studied architecture at the University of Havana before emigrating to the United States as a political refugee in 1962. He moved to Boston to continue his education where he met and fell in love with his future wife, Rachel Anderson. They married in 1965 and went on to raise three sons, Andrew, Brent, and Craig, in Andover before later settling in Wrentham.

Angel proudly became a United States citizen in 1969 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Boston University in 1970. That same year, he joined the trust department of Hale and Dorr, eventually rising to chairman of Hale and Dorr's Trust Section of the Trusts and Estates Department. In 1988, he led the spinout of Hale and Dorr's investment management operations to form Haldor Investment Advisors and was named president of the new firm. In 2003, he fulfilled a longtime dream and, with his son Brent, opened his own firm, Broadwater Capital Management.

Angel's warm and outgoing personality drew people to him and led to many shared adventures with friends and family including wilderness canoeing, scuba diving, skiing, golfing, and traveling. Many will remember his enthusiastic storytelling, which was often punctuated with emphatic sound effects.

Angel greatly enjoyed entertaining and was a devoted supporter of the arts, frequently attending performances and exhibitions at Sarah Caldwell's Opera Company, the Huntington Theatre, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Boston Symphony. He loved his adopted home of Boston and was a longtime member of the Union Club. For many years, he served on the board of the former American Textile History Museum in Lowell, believing strongly in its mission to preserve an important part of New England's history.

Angel never lost his passion for dancing and the sounds of Cuban music. He delighted in visits from his grandchildren whether sharing a game of Chinese checkers or taking a trip to the bowling alley.

Angel is survived by Rachel, his loving wife and partner of more than 60 years; his son Andrew and Andrew's wife Brenda, of Sharon, and their children Ariana, Drew, and Aidan; his son Brent of Brookline; and his son Craig of Wrentham, Craig's partner Sundy, and her daughter, Isabella.

The family plans to hold a gathering in celebration of Angel's life at a later date.
