Salem, NH - Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, July 10, for Ann (Gymziak) Vozella, from 4 to 8 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere, Massachusetts. Mrs. Vozella died on Tuesday, July 3, in the Salem Woods Nursing Home of Salem, New Hampshire, following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, July 11, at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service in the funeral home at 11 a.m., immediately followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, Massachusetts.
Born and raised in Chelsea, Ann was an alumna of Chelsea High School, class of 1960. Her working career included her bookkeeping position at Vozella Electric of Chelsea for several years. Later, she would hold the position of “substitute” teacher in St. Stanislaus School of Chelsea. Ann and Tony lived in Chelsea and Winthrop for many years, until moving to Salem, New Hampshire, in 1974. Although, geographically, they were at a distance, they kept a tight and firm grip on their friends and friendships they made in Chelsea and Winthrop. She was a remarkable homemaker and caregiver for her family. She had an avid interest in many topics, which accounted for her avid interest in books. Some of Ann’s most prized and dearest possessions were her books (volumes and boxes).
She is the beloved wife of 41 years to Anthony S. Vozella of Salem, N.H., and formerly of Chelsea. She is the cherished mother to Kelly Anne Dortona and her husband David of Salem, N.H., Christopher J. Manning of Londonderry, N.H., Anthony V. Vozella and his wife Nancy of Saugus, Susan M. Goss and her husband Robert “Bobby” of Everett and the late Linda Greene and her late husband Paul. Ann is the dear sister to John Gymziak and his wife Linda of Georgetown and the late Raymond Gymziak. She is the devoted grandmother to Mark R. Wehrer, Annemarie J. Wehrer, Adam and Callie Michalsky, Jason T. Michalsky, Jaime B. Vozella, Anthony Vozella IV, Stephanie Vozella, Paul Greene, Nicholas “Nick” Greene, Robert “Bobby” Goss, Lance Goss, Donnie, Bobby and Matt Dortona and the late Angelina Goss and Katie Vozella. She is also lovingly survived by seven great-grandchildren, Nathan Goss-Ventullo, C.J. Goss, Matthew and Mia Goss, Paul Greene, Caylee Hickman, Camila Goss and the late Brodie Goss-Feeley. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews also survive her. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
