Salem, NH - Claire Y. (Bourdelais) Lundberg, 90, a lifelong resident of Salem, N.H., passed away peacefully Monday at her home, surrounded by her family.
Claire was born on a farm in North Salem, N.H., July 30, 1929, with no electricity or running water. She was one of 13 children of William and Eva (Bonah) Bourdelais, and Claire was the last surviving sibling.
Claire moved to Lawrence, Mass., when she was 16 years old, and with her mother and sisters to work in the mills. She was amazed that you could flip a switch and the lights came on. She worked for Jo Gal Shoe Company. Years later she worked for the Lake Street Garden Center and was a bookkeeper for R. Lundberg & Sons Septic Service, that she and her late husband Raymond owned until her blindness forced her to stop. Claire and Raymond enjoyed traveling in their antique cars. They belonged to antique car clubs and made a lot of friends. She never felt sorry for herself and was always concerned about others. Her life was all about family.
Claire is survived by her two sons, Raymond F. Jr. and his wife Pam Lundberg of Salem, N.H., Clifford W. and his wife Terrie Lundberg of Salem, N.H.; grandchildren, Shawn Barnes, Brooke McGibbon and her husband Dave, Raymond Lundberg III and his fiancé Emily Proposki, Trevor Lundberg, Nicole Lundberg, Robin Lundberg, and Jolene Lundberg; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister in law and best friend Evelyn Kezer of Salem, N.H.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana Farber Community Cancer Care, 25 Marston St., Suite 301, Lawrence, MA 01841.
