Deanna Mannix Ousler

Deanna M. Ousler, in the company of her family, passed away peacefully at Lawrence General Hospital on July 2, 2026. Born in Newburyport, MA on March 17, 1938, she enjoyed many childhood memories of the expansive gardens and chicken coops her family kept in the yard behind their home on High Street. Deanna earned a Bachelor's Degree in education at Salve Regina University, where she also had the good fortune to meet her future husband, Dr. George W. Ousler Jr., while he was passing through Newport during his naval service. Following their marriage in 1965, Deanna and George lived in Philadelphia, PA while George attended medical school and Deanna taught kindergarten and first grade. In 1971, they permanently settled in North Andover, MA.
Deanna was a stunning combination of elegance and grit. Rarely seen without immaculately coiffed hair and perfect pink lipstick, even when mowing acres of lawn with a push mower, she is fondly remembered as the embodiment of resilience, purpose, and unconditional love. Deanna was a lifelong lover of animals, from pet Great Danes to wandering farm cats to the variety of wildlife that surrounded her home.
More than anything else, Deanna was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed and maintained close connections with every member of her family, whether they lived nearby or across the continent. She was a warm, down-to-earth, and observant mother through every phase of her children's lives. As her family grew to include in-laws and grandchildren, she became an adoring and affectionately formidable matriarch. Her greatest legacy is the tremendous love she built into her family and friendships and the closeness she engendered in her children and grandchildren.
Deanna is survived by her daughter, Kristen Sanchez and her husband Frank, daughter Heidi Lang and her husband Bryson, and son, George Ousler III and his wife Ingrid; son-in-law Brian Wise; grandchildren Frankie, Nicholas, and Lauren Sanchez, Oliver and Yvette Lang, and Ilsa, Georgie, Kristjan, and Alina Ousler; and nieces and nephews, Deanna, Conrad, Carol, Daniel, and Greg Spils. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. George W. Ousler Jr., daughter, Nicole Ousler, brothers Joseph and Robert Mannix, and sister Margaret Spils.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover, MA. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA. The Mass will be followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Newburyport, MA, where she will be laid to rest with four generations of family.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
