Amesbury, MA - Dorothy V. (Kealey) Greaney, age 94, of Haverhill, former longtime Amesbury resident, passed peacefully early Monday morning, December 2, 2019, at Penacook place in Haverhill, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the wife of 68 years to the late Joseph "Mike" Greaney, who passed on May 13, 2019, with whom she is now "together forever."
The daughter of the late James F. and Grace V. (Duggan) Kealey, Dorothy was born in Newburyport on March 20, 1925 and was a graduate of Amesbury High School, Class of 1942.
Dorothy had worked as an administrative assistant and in the accounting department at the former Merrimac Hat Shop in Amesbury and later for her husband's business, JMG Contractors. The Singing Belles, a group of talented friends, performed locally for decades. She was also a voracious reader, sharing her passion for reading with her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. As an extremely skilled knitter and seamstress, Dorothy was forever creating something special, be it for her family, a dear friend, or the parish fair.
The gift of her life will forever be treasured by her children, James M. Greaney and wife Pamela, of Amesbury, Geralyn Willett and husband Terrence of Amesbury, and Kevin J. Greaney of Newton, N.H.; eleven grandchildren, Kayleigh Greaney, Corey and wife Amanda Greaney, Kerin Willett, Patrick Willett and his significant other Kristen, Ryan Willett and his wife Christine, Matthew Greaney, Matt Mott, Erica Mott, James M.
