Hampstead, NH - Edward J. Heitzman, 94, of Hampstead, NH, died Wednesday at Parkland Medical Center in Derry NH.
Eddie was born in Kingston, N.Y., the son of the late Cornelius and Henrietta (Nock) Heitzman. He grew up and was educated in Kingston, then went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Catholic University in Washington, DC. He was a resident of Hampstead for the past 22 years, formerly of Lowell.
Eddie was a retired engineer for Honeywell in Billerica. He was a charter member of the Chelmsford, Elks Lodge # 2310. Eddie enjoyed Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Celtics, cards, traveling, wintering in Boynton Beach, FL, and was an avid golfer in his younger years. Eddie also proudly served his country in the US Army in World War II.
He is survived by his wife Grace (Miller) (Mroz) Heitzman of Hampstead, NH, Children: Dan and his wife Judy Heitzman of Marshfield, Ned and his wife Brenda Heitzman of South Carolina, Cornel and his wife, Linda Heitzman of New Mexico, and Tim Heitzman of Dracut. Eddie was predeceased by a daughter, Ursula Heitzman, stepchildren, Michael and his wife, Sue Mroz of North Carolina, Ann and her husband, Paul Byrne of Manchester, NH, Steven Mroz of Florida, Terri and her husband Jack Gregson of Alaska, and Julie and her husband Mark Dunajski of Derry, NH, brothers, Clem Heitzman of New York and John Heitzman of Florida, 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, Feb. 23rd from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Rd. Windham, NH. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 24th at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lowell.
