Methuen - Eileen C. (Bateman) Sarre, 75, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on September 30, 2018, at the High Pointe House in Haverhill, Mass. She was the beloved wife of David R. Sarre. Eileen was born January 16, 1943, in Lawrence, the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Fitzgerald) Bateman. She graduated from Lawrence High School and Merrimack College. She retired from the former Western Electric to raise her children. After years at home, she returned to work in the admissions office at Merrimack College, retiring in 2004.

Eileen and David raised and educated their children, traveled the world, spent many summers at Salisbury Beach, and played golf all over New England. She also was a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross.

Eileen is survived by her husband of 46 years, David of Methuen; her daughter, Erin Sarre of Haverhill; her son, Timothy and his wife Anya of Los Angeles; her granddaughter, Charissa of Coronado, Calif.; and her grandson, Sawyer of Los Angeles. She also leaves her sister and brother-in-law, Marguerite and William Dalton, her brother and sister-in-law, William and Barbara Bateman; and her brother-in-law Thomas Sarre and his wife Linda. She leaves one niece and several nephews and their spouses; and many friends, including her childhood girlfriends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Monica’s Church, Methuen, Mass. Burial will follow in St Mary/Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence. Family and friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover, MA.
