Eldon Abrahamson, Jr. Obituary

Dover, NH - Eldon "Andy" Andrew Abrahamson, Jr. passed away on September 9, 2022, after a brief illness.

Born on January 15, 1940 in Brockton, MA, Andy grew up on Cape Cod, MA, where he developed an early interest in the ocean. Andy served in the US Air Force Reserves and enjoyed a long career as both an engineer and manager with Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent Technologies in North Andover, MA. He was a graduate of Merrimack College and Suffolk University.

Andy loved the coast of New England. He shared this love with his family, taking them surf fishing on Plum Island, vacationing on Cape Cod and boating in and around Ipswich Bay. Andy was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Haverhill, MA where he served for many years as an elder.

In his retirement, Andy took up boatbuilding, spending countless weeks and weekends at The WoodenBoat School in Brooklin, ME. Included in his craft were building wooden ship half models and Vintage Marblehead-class pond yachts in his home workshop. Andy also became a Marine Docent through the New Hampshire Sea Grant where he volunteered his time and expertise with the family boatbuilding program. He also became a master of the camera, capturing in photographs moments along the oceanside and, most important to him, his family.

Andy was a loving husband and father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Brenda (Forsyth), his three children, Suzanne and her husband Eric Shimomura, Alison and her husband Sean DuPilka, and David Abrahamson and his wife, Denise Roy, six grandchildren, William, Madison, Julia, Andrew, Aaren and Braden, as well as seven great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

A private celebration of life will be held in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Andy's memory to the New Hampshire Sea Grant Marine Docent Program https://securelb.imodules.com/s/1518/g20/form.aspx?sid=1518&gid=4&pgid=4556&cid=7749&dids=598 or to the Seacoast Science Center https://www.seacoastsciencecenter.org/join-give/donate/
